Itinerary:
Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Fez
First leg of our 6 days Morocco tour from Casablanca. The itinerary focuses on visiting the largest and most important cities in Morocco and North Africa, such as economically or demographically. For example, we will visit one of the largest mosques in the world, the Hassan II Mosque. After visiting the mosque, we continue our 6-day Morocco tour from Casablanca to Rabat. Rabat is the official capital of Morocco and the second largest city. All foreign embassies are represented here. We continue our 6-day Morocco cruise from Casablanca to Meknes, a city of great historical interest and a popular UNESCO World Heritage site. We continue our Morocco cruise to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 2: Visiting Fes
From Casablanca to the Sahara Desert on this day of our 6-day Morocco cruise. We spend the day in Fez, Morocco’s oldest imperial city, which was the capital of Morocco until 1925. Fez is home to two ancient medinas, the largest of which is Fes el Bali. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Fez is one of the largest car-free urban areas in the world. The Madrasa Al-Qaraouin, founded in 859 AD, is the oldest continuously operating madrasa in the world. The city is also known as the “Mecca of the West” and the “Athens of Africa.”
The Meredin Tombs, at the edge of the valley, offer spectacular views of the city. The Boujeloud Gardens are a veritable paradise with outdoor cafes and picnic areas galore. After exploring the city, we will complete our 6-day Morocco tour from Casablanca and return to the hotel.
Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Erfoud – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert
After two nights in Fez, we continue our 6 days Morocco tour from Casablanca with a visit to Ifrane (the Switzerland of Morocco) and the ski resort of the Central Atlas region, as well as nearby wildlife, including the endangered Barbary macaque. On our 6-day tour of Morocco from Casablanca, we travel through the Ziz Valley and its gorges, visiting several towns such as Midel, famous for its excellent apples, and Erfoud, the city of fossils, before arriving in Merzouga, where we travel by camel caravan to the foot of the great dunes, where we can enjoy beautiful desert sunsets, local music and dancing, and then a spectacular starry sky.
Day 4: Merzouga Desert – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
After sunrise, we return to civilization and continue our journey by 4×4 jeep to the outskirts of Morocco. We pass the city of Rissani, Morocco’s first imperial city and the birthplace of the Alaoui dynasty, where a member of the royal family, Moulay Ali Cherif, is kept. The town of Rissani is populated by Arabic speakers and has a popular souk where people from all the surrounding villages come to buy their wares: vegetables, clothes, spices, which are also specialised in this town.
We travel on to Erfoud, a place of fossils used to make beautiful furniture, ornaments and personal items such as bracelets, pendants and necklaces. We will continue our journey through Morocco for 6 days until we reach Tingir, the site of the Todra Gorge, where we will visit the mountains, an important destination for climbers and hikers. We continue our 6-day Morocco cruise from Casablanca to Bumalne-Dades, after one hour transfer to the hotel.
Day 5: Dades – Rose Valley – Ouarzazate – Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou – Marrakech
After visiting the Dades Gorge, we will travel to the Rose Valley of K’laat M’Gouna, where we will have the opportunity to visit the House of Roses, whose petals are used to make perfumes, creams and oils. Meanwhile, we continue our Moroccan journey to Ouarzazate, where a solar energy project will provide up to 1.1 million Moroccans with clean, renewable energy by 2018.
Before returning to Marrakech and crossing the high Atlas Mountains, we will stop en route to the Moroccan peaks in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Aït Benhaddou, whose inhabitants still live within these walls and in the neighbouring Berber villages. Films such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones and Prince of Arabia were shot here. From Casablanca we continue our 6-day Morocco cruise, leaving time to enjoy the city and its beauty.
Day 6: Marrakech – Casablanca
This day of the Morocco cruise is dedicated to visiting the Red City, Morocco’s most visited city, with all its scents and colours. The tour starts early in the morning; we will visit gardens, mosques and castles such as the Bahia Castle. You will also visit madrasas, old schools and Koranic tombs during your trip to Morocco. Finally, you will be met at the famous Jamaa el Fna square (lunch in the square). In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to explore the city on your own or take part in another activity before you will travel back to Casablanca to finish your 6 days Morocco tour from Casablanca.
