Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Casablanca – Rabat
Arrive at Casablanca airport, visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque, then continue your tour of Morocco through the royal cities to Rabat, the administrative and political capital of the country. Formal guided tour of Rabat, during which we visit El Meshouar (the ramparts and walls surrounding the Royal Palace). Kasbah Udayas and the magnificent mausoleum of Mohammed V and Hassan II. First night of our 8 days Morocco tour from Casablanca and accommodation in a riad.
Day 2: Rabat – Asilah – Chefchaouen
After breakfast, departure for Asilah This mysterious village was founded as a secret site to attack the Portuguese who had settled on the northern coast of Morocco. Until the arrival of Spanish troops in 1920, access to the village was completely forbidden to Europeans. We visit the old medina of Asilah before continuing our tour to Chefchaouen. In the afternoon we arrive in the blue village in the north of Morocco and experience its medina for the first time. Evening and overnight in a riad in the heart of the blue medina.
Day 3: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fez
After breakfast at the riad, drive to Volubilis, past Wazan and other Rif villages. In Volubilis, you will discover Roman ruins and learn about an archaeological site of Moroccan history. After visiting the ruins, we will travel to the city of Meknes, a 17th century heritage site, where we will have lunch and visit the medina walls, Bab el Mansour and the sanctuary of Moulay Ismail. After visiting Meknes, we travel directly to the city of Fes where we spend the night in a riad.
Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Ziz Valley – Merzouga
After breakfast, we leave Fes for Merzouga and Ifrane (the Switzerland of Morocco), through the Central Atlas and the cedar forests of Azrou, the home of the Atlas monkeys, the Atlas Forest. Free time for lunch in mid-tent. After crossing the Ziz valley, we continue to Erfoud, where we can visit food and fossil material factories. On arrival in Merzouga, we will camel ride to the desert camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi desert. The camel ride takes about 45 minutes. Dinner and overnight at the camp and enjoy the desert night, a starry night accompanied by the silence of the desert. Drumming….. (An unforgettable night!!!)
Day 5: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate
Early morning to admire the beautiful sunrise and the different colours of the dunes. After breakfast, we saddle our camels and head towards Rissani, where we make a short stop to visit the traditional souk, considered the largest in all of southern Morocco. After visiting the Todra Gorge, we will follow the route of the Thousand Kasbah through the Dades Valley and the Valley of the Roses to reach Ouarzazate, one of the most important cities in southern Morocco, known for its active film industry, where films such as Gladiator, Troy, The Mummy and others were made. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: Ouarzazate – Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech.
After breakfast visit to the city of Ouarzazate, the Kasbah Taourirt and the largest and most famous film studio in Africa. After the visit to the film studio, departure to the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou and visit the famous Kasbah (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO). Famous movies such as Gladiator, Obelix, Sahara with Penelope, Cruise…. etc. were filmed in this picturesque location. After visiting the Kasbah, travel towards Marrakech and enjoy the colours and landscapes of the Atlas Mountains. On the way, lunch, cross the 2260m high Tizi n’Tichka gate, arrive in Marrakech in the evening and stay in a riad.
Day 7: Sightseeing in Marrakech
In the morning, accompanied by our guide, we set off to discover the most fascinating city of all – Marrakech, one of the 4 royal cities of Morocco. During the tour we will visit the main sights of the Red Medina, the Jamaa el Fna Square, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Medersa ben Youssef and the Majorelle Gardens, the souks with their many flowers and our guide will be happy to give us the necessary tips to enjoy ourselves, as all our guides live in Marrakech, are mostly women and have a degree in Latin American philology. At the end of the tour, we return to the riad.
Day 8: Marrakech – transfer to the airport.
