Intriguing and atypical camping sites in Marrakech:

Marrakech is a major tourist destination. Every year, millions of foreigners from all over the world stop off here for a few days or several weeks. Tired of the campsites in your area? Would you like to sleep in a tent in a more original way? As an enchanting destination, you’ll discover camping in a whole new way.

There’s no shortage of magnificent bivouacs and tents for sleeping under the stars in this region. If you’re not sure where to go camping in Marrakech, here’s a list of the best spots 🙂

The Domaine des Terres d’Amanar and the Terre des Étoiles ecolodge are among the best-known places to spend a few days in a tent or lodge.

Whether you’re a family, a couple, a group of friends or a solo traveler, you’re bound to love stargazing and staying in a desert oasis.

All you have to do is drive ten kilometers out of the red city and you’ll find yourself in the middle of nature. You’ll be able to relax, take part in sporting activities, take photos of sunrises and sunsets, and contemplate the stars with your loved ones.

You’ll find other, more rustic sites, but I have to say that Les Jardins D’Issil and Terre des Etoiles are among the favorites of travelers who want to enjoy camping in Marrakech.

Another popular campsite is Le Relais De Marrakech. It’s a really beautiful setting for camping in Marrakech, and the price is more than right.

A very good choice for someone looking to sleep in a tent.

On a different note, Ourika Camp is also well known among campers.

Camping really is a relaxing and totally different experience from that of luxury hotels and Riads. Rest assured, at most sites you’ll be able to enjoy Moroccan tea, as well as local specialities 😊 We eat well in Morocco, very well indeed!

What to do in Marrakech

Marrakech is a very affordable destination. Firstly, because of its airport, where many low-cost flights pass through every day. Secondly, there’s plenty to do in and around the city.

If you don’t know what to do in Marrakech, I recommend you read our article.

For example, you can take a camel ride through the desert. Some trips last up to several days and include sleeping in tents for one or two nights.

This is, of course, a must-do activity in Marrakech, and you won’t be doing it every day 😉 It’s even pretty rare as an activity if you go to campsites in France.

Yes, staying in Marrakech gives you the opportunity to live like a nomad for a few days. If you’re looking for other activities, you can go surfing on the sand dunes or take a 4×4 ride following a precise circuit to admire all the beauty of Moroccan nature… During your desert adventures, you’ll have the chance to discover beautiful little desert villages like Moulay Brahim, where the local population is very welcoming. Offering hospitality and food, you can discover the local flavors by having a meal with the locals. A once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Camping in Marrakech

Marrakech is a welcoming city, and if you’re going on a discovery camping holiday in Marrakech, it’s a great place to enjoy both nature and the charms of the region.

Don’t forget to bring back a few souvenirs from your Marrakech getaway. Whether for your own home or as a gift for loved ones, it’s always a pleasure! All you have to do is visit the souks of the Medina. This central location is ideal for souvenir shopping. Strolling through the souks, you’ll discover many local craftsmen handcrafting vases, jewelry, teapots of all kinds, colorful fabrics and textiles, not to mention different types of perfume and the unmissable Moroccan spices presented on neatly arranged stalls.

My camping experience in Marrakech:

During my second stay in Marrakech, I thought I’d like to change accommodations and try camping around Marrakech for a different experience.

So I opted for the Terre des Étoiles ecolodge. Frankly, there’s nothing to say, my stay was perfect.

It has to be said that this ecolodge is located right in the middle of the desert. It’s like an oasis out of nowhere.

It’s a fairly upmarket campsite, with swimming pools and a spa, but above all the setting is just idyllic, because this place was built from scratch. There’s now vegetation, a garden, a vegetable patch, and the ecolodge offers many activities that you can do from the campsite. From relaxation with a massage to adventure with a quad or camel ride.

If you’re looking for a good campsite in Marrakech, the Terre des Étoiles ecolodge is a great choice.

So which campsite should you choose in Marrakech?

If I had to make a selection of the most beautiful campsites, but above all give my opinion on which campsite to choose around Marrakech, I’d simply say:

If you’re on a budget: the Terre des Etoiles ecolodge is my number 1 choice. It’s not cheap, but the environment is really nice.

If you want to camp in Morocco quietly with your tent: Ourika Camp is a suitable choice with a lower budget.

Camping in the north of Morocco: an ideal location for an excursion, I recommend the Relais de Marrakech, located to the north of the city. It’s an ideal location for enjoying Marrakech, but also for easy access to the activities around the red city.
